These terms govern your use of HoldMic ("the app", "the service"), a macOS voice-to-text application. By downloading or using HoldMic, you agree to these terms.

1. Description of Service

HoldMic is a macOS menu bar application that provides push-to-talk voice transcription with AI-powered text cleanup. The app requires an active internet connection to function, as speech recognition and text processing are performed on cloud servers.

2. System Requirements

• macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
• Active internet connection
• Microphone access permission
• Accessibility access permission

3. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use HoldMic for personal or professional purposes on macOS devices you own or control, subject to these terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Use the service to process audio that you do not have the right to record
• Attempt to circumvent any usage limits or access controls
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the service

5. Availability & Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Accuracy of speech recognition or AI text processing
• Compatibility with every macOS application
• Specific uptime or response times

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without prior notice. We reserve the right to perform maintenance that may temporarily affect availability.

6. Subscriptions & Payment

HoldMic offers a free trial (limited number of transcriptions). After the trial, continued use requires a paid subscription processed through our payment partner. Subscription terms:

• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date
• You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the current billing period
• Refund requests are handled per our payment partner's refund policy
• Prices may change with reasonable notice; existing subscriptions are honored until renewal

7. Intellectual Property

HoldMic and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. Your voice input and resulting text remain your property — we claim no ownership over your content.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
• Inaccurate transcription or text processing results
• Service interruptions or downtime
• Issues arising from macOS permission requirements

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Privacy

Your use of HoldMic is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your data.

10. Modifications to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the service at our discretion if you violate these terms. Upon termination, your license to use the app is revoked.
